The 49er Medal Race was also sailed in a light breeze. Gold for Nathan Outteridge/Ian Jensen AUS - the outstanding dominators of the whole season - and Silver for Peter Burling/Tuke Blair NZL were won prematurely before the Medal Race, and all interest was on the fight for Bronze. Delle-Karth/Resch AUT attacked right from the beginning and celebrated a start-to-finish victory. For a long time, it looked as if Austria - without any Medals in the 2012 Games so far - would arrive on the podium. But Norregard/Lang DEN coming back from behind finally defended their 3rd place overall, crossing the finish line as 3rd. Dyen/Christidis FRA, rank 6 in the final race, are on rank 6 overall.
