Olympic Worldcup 2012 - Kieler Woche - Kiel GER - first races today, the Swiss
Today begins the Olympic part of the 2012 Kiel Week, the last event of the ISAF Olympic Worldcup, lasting until next Wednesday. The Women Matchracers are competing, and it is not certain, whether the RS:X windsurfers, where only a few are on the entrylists, will be allowed to start. The participants enrolled are mostly development teams, as the Olympic candidats apparently preferred to prepare their most important competition of the last four years either already in England, or at a 'secret' place. With Andy Maloney NZL in the Lasers, Rohart/Rambeau FRA in the Starboats, Deniss Karpak EST and Brendan Casey AUS in the Finns, as well as Tatjana Droszdowskaja BLR in the Lasers Radial, some top athletes have nevertheless chosen to do their last racing tune-up at the traditional Kiel Week. The only Swiss on the entrylists are Christoph Bottoni SUI in the Lasers and Carli Ochs SUI in the Lasers Radial. Today and tomorrow, fresh westerly winds will prevail.
