49er - World Championship 2012 - Zadar CRO - Final Results, Cook/Lowden CAN 21st, Murrieta/Murrieta MEX 37th and Strammer/Brown USA 46th
Light winds prevailed again on the last day of the 49er World Championship 2012. After the last two fleetraces, the double-point-no-discard Medal Race of the 10 best-ranked decided on the final outcome of the Championship. The defending Champions Nathan Outteridge/Ian Jensen AUS had an easy race thanks to the big advantage, and their victory, the fourth 49er title, was logical, and makes them the clear favorites for the Olympic Regatta in three months' time. Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL took Silver as last year in Perth AUS. In the tight fight for Bronze, the tie-break rules decided in favor of Norregard/Lang DEN who replaced Dyen/Christidis FRA on the podium. The final results of the best North-Americans are: Cook/Lowden CAN 21st, Murrieta/Murrieta MEX 37th and Strammer/Brown USA 46th.The final results and the final report.
