Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2012 - Hyères FRA - Final Results, Slingsby down on rank 5 after dismasting
What a crazy format ! After a brilliant week with only top-three rankings, the World Champion Tom Slingsby AUS was relegated on rank 5 at the end of the Worldcup competition after a dismasting in the Medal Race of the Lasers Standard. This mishap opened the way to victory for Philipp Buhl GER, age 22 only, winning his first big international event after a very solid week. Silver and Bronze went to Andy Malone NZL and Andrew Murdoch NZL.
Major changes in the Laser Radial were the former World Champion Lijia Xu CHN had a close final win over Evi Van Acker BEL, the winner of the Medal Race.The World Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED could not defend her top place and dropped on rank 3 after a 7th position in the Medal Race.
