Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2012 - Palma ESP - Day 3, Charlie Buckingham exellent 3rd, Paige Railey 23rd suffers, while Tania Elias Calles MEX is 7th
Yesterday, the qualification phase ended for the Lasers continuing the competition as from today in a Gold-, Silver- and the Standards also in a Bronze fleet. After a protest, race 3 of Tuesday was cancelled in the Radials, and resailed yesterday, before the planned races 5 and 6 were completed in both classes. The new leader in the Lasers Standard is Tom Burton AUS 4 points ahead of Nick Thompson GBR and another 3 points back the tied Charlie Buckingham USA and Tom Slingsby AUS on 3 and 4. The former leader Simon Grotelüschen GER dropped on rank 5.
In the Lasers Radial, the World Champion Marit Bouiwmeester NED defended the first place, but - thanks to the resailed race 3 - Evi Van Acker BEL is now only 2 points behind. On the 3rd place follows the consistently sailing Alicia Cebrian ESP. Sarah Steayaert FRA dropped on rank 5.
