Freddy Lööf and Max Salminen SWE succeeded to compensate their 12 points backlog in an exciting Medal Race taking the Gold Medal ahead of Ian Percy/Andrew Simpson and Robert Scheidt/Bruno Prada BRA. This outcome reverses 2008 where Lööf started to the Medal Race as first and finished 3rd at the end of the race. This is the 3rd Olympic Medal for Lööf, and also for Percy.
