Olympic Worldcup 2012 - Semaine Olympique Française (SOF) - Hyères FRA - Day 2
The SOF continued according to program yesterday in a 15-20 kn breeze, decreasing during the afternoon. The Starboats and 49ers caught up the cancelled races from day one. The new leader in the RS:X-windsurfers is Piotr Myszka POL with two race wins. Toni Wilhelm GER and Julien Bontemps FRA follow on the ranks 2 and 3. A Polish leader also in the RS:X-women with Maja Dziarnowska POL ahead of Moana Delle GER and Olga Maslivets UKR. In absence of the British armada, it is Deniss Karpak EST who clearly dominates the scene in the Finns with Rafael Trujillo ESP and Dan Slater NZL on the ranks 2 and 3. After four races in all skiff fleets, it is the Marseille Mistral-proven team D'Ortoli/Delpech FRA who leads the interims' rankings of the 49ers in front of Morrison/Rhodes GBR and Outteridge/Jensen AUS an. Leaders of the 470 men are for the time being Mantis/Kagialis GRE ahead of Zandona/Zucchetti ITA and Coster/Coster NED, but Belcher/Page AUS will move up on top when the discard comes into effect today. Apart from a 2/1/1 score, they have a 24th rank on their result sheet coming from a race finish under jury rig ! As mostly in strong wind, Lisa Westerhof/Lobke Berkhout NED dominate the activity in the 470 women in front of Ai Kondo/Wakako Tabata JPN and Amanda Clark/Sarah Lihan USA. After a victory in race one of the Starboats, Robert Scheidt BRA left Hyères and the competition for family reasons. Clarke/Björn CAN are now leading ahead of Percy/Simpson GBR, Rohart/Ponsot FRA and Polgar/Koy GER. Anna Tunnicliffe USA remains on top of the Women Match Race undefeated with a 6-0 score, followed by Sally Barkow USA (6-1) and Claire Leroy FRA (5-1).
