Volvo Ocean Race 2012 - Leg 5 - Day 13
Today, 'Groupama' with Franck Cammas FRA and, 23 miles behind, also 'Puma' (Ken Read USA) will reach the Cape Horn. Decreasing winds did allow the Americans to come closer to the leader. In spite of all caution, 'Abu Dhabi' with Ian Walker GBR reached yesterday a top speed of 41 kn (!), but a few moments later, the team had to announce technical problems, as the hull started to delaminate. This morning, the race-viewer notes a complete standstill. 'Abu Dhabi' seems to return to New Zealand. The report.
