M34 - Tour de France à la Voile - Royan FRA - Day 17
Expected was a friendly accommodating 122 miles' leg from Pornic to Royan, but the weather pattern decided otherwise, as the 15 teams were hit by a thunderstrom with gusts of over 40 kn in the middle of the night. In addition to some minor damages (and torn spinnakers), a crew member of 'Safram-Multiplast' was injured and had to be hospitalised. The experienced teams coped well with the sailing conditions, with 'BAE-Systems', the team of 'Oman Sail', with Cédric Pouligny FRA as skipper was the winner. Overall, 'Courrier Dunkerque' with Daniel Souben FRA remains on top, but 'Sud de France' with Bertrand Pacé FRA is only 8 point behind. 'TPM COYC Hyères' with Fabien Henry is fourth, 4 points behind 'Bretagne CM'. The report, the videos and the overall rankings.
