Speed-Sailing - Hydroptère preparing for a Pacific record
In a few days, the foiler trimaran Hydroptère will arrive in California, where the final preparations for the first offshore record attempt from Los Angeles USA to Hawaii USA will be made. The foils were further developped for larger waves during the tests and trainings in the South of France. The team of Alain Thébault FRA has been reinforced with the Vendée Globe experienced Jean Le Cam FRA and Yves Parlier FRA as well as the Olympic downhill-ski champion Luc Alphand FRA. After some more trainings in California, the Hydroptère will look for an appropriate weather window as from July 1 to attack the record held by Olivier de Kersauson FRA on his 'Geronimo' of 4 days and 19 hours.
