Star - World Championship 2012 - Hyères FRA - Day 2 - Race winners Marazzi/De Maria SUI
A grey sky and a 5-8 kn breeze prevailed at the start of the second race of the 2012 Star Worlds in the Bay of Hyères. A 30°'s shift shortly after the start extended the fleet immediately considerably, and some of the favorites were way back. Right from the beginning in front were Flavio Marazzi/De Maria SUI, who took the lead on the first downwind and defended this place in a close duel up to the finish line. Robert Scheidt/Bruno Prada BRA on second were only half a boat lengt behind, Hestbaek/Olesen DEN were 3rd. Overall, O'Leary/Burrows IRL have now taken the lead ahead of Scheidt/Prada BRA and Percy/Simpson GBR. Marazzi/De Maria SUI and Echevarri/Rodrigues ESP follow with the same number of points and just behind are Stanjek/Kleen GER and the winners of the first race Rohart/Ponsot FRA. On the ranks 8-12 are four nations fighting for an Olympic berth, i.e. NZL, DEN, CRO and AUT. The results, thereport of the day and the video of the day.
