By midnight, Gildas Morvan FRA with his 'Cercle Vert' arrived as winner of leg two in St. Gilles Croix de Vie FRA after a close duel with Nicolas Lunven FRA ('Generali') during the whole final straight, and only three minutes separated the boat at the end. Yann Eliès FRA, winner of leg one, arrived as third and defended his first place in the overall rankings. Morgan Lagravière FRA follows as 4th with a 30 min backlog. The start to the last 486 miles' leg from St. Gilles FRA around the Wolf Rock in the South of Ireland to Cherbourg at the French English Channel Coast will be given next Sunday. Considering the small gaps between the boats, this final leg will be the most decisive one. The report and the videos.

Early this morning, the solo-skippered Bénéteau fleet has rounded the way point Basse de Lil North of Britanny after a fast and direct passage of the Bay of Biscay, and is now on the way direction South to St-Gilles at the French Atlantic Coast. 150 miles are left to the finish, where the first boats are expected in about 24 hours. A moderate 15 kn breeze prevailed yesterday at the start to leg 2 of the Solitaire du Figaro 2012 in Gijon ESP, heading for St. Gilles 442 miles South of Britanny. Nicolas Lunven FRA was the leader early this morning only 0.7 miles in front of Gildas Morvan FRA and Erwan Tabarly FRA. The race-viewer, the report and the videos.

The fleet remained closely packed in the speed race crossing the Bay of Biscay till the finish of leg one. Yann Eliès FRA maintained the first positions 9 minutes ahead of Morgan Lagravière FRA and another 11 minutes in front of Fabien Delahaye FRA as 3rd. The first woman Jeanne Grégoire FRA follows 1 hour 54 minutes later on rank 16, Isabelle Joschke GER/FRA finished 21st of the 37 participants. The results, the reports and the videos.

Half of the Bay of Biscay has already been crossed by the 37 boats' fleet, thanks to the fresh Easterly breeze around 15 kn. The solo-skippers are expected in Gijon, port of call of leg 1, this evening, with only 100 miles to go for the leaders this morning. No change as far as the sequence of the yachts is concerned, but the leading trio is closer together with Yann Eliès FRA 0,6 miles ahead of Morgan Lagravière FRA and Fabien Delahaye FRA following only 0,1 miles farther back as 3rd. During the past night, the 37 participants gybed offshore crossing the Bay of Biscay direction Gijon. Yann Eliès FRA, 0,7 keeps the lead 0.7 miles ahead of Morgan Lagravière FRA and 3.6 miles iqn front of Nicolas Lunven FRA as 3rd. But the gaps between the boats remain small. Fighting against the strong current, the Bénéteaus remain close to the shore. Gildas Morvan FRA is the first leader, together with 49er specialist Morgan Lagravière on rank 2, but the rest of the closely packed fleet is not far away. Numerous favorites can be detected on the list, such as the Vendée-Globe- experienced Yann Eliès FRA, the former Solitaire winners Gildas Morvan FRA, Fred Duthill FRA or Fabien Delahaye FRA. The 1'450 miles race leads in three legs from Paimpol FRA in Britanny to Gijon ESP, then back to St-Croix FRA in Southern Britanny, and finally the last leg via the Irish Coast returning to Paimpol FRA.
