
No more racing on the final day of the J/80 Worlds as a wind exceeding 30 kn was blowing off Darthmore at the English South Coast building up a huge swell. At the end of the event, all Medals have gone to Spain with José-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP and his team as the new World Champions, followed by Rayco Tabares ESP and Carlos Martinez ESP. 76 teams from 14 nations participated. Four races were sailed, initially in a light wind, freshening later to up to 20 kn. at the English South Coast yesterday. José-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP continued his row of good results and has now a four points' lead after 9 races over Rayco Tabares ESP. Four races were sailed by the 76 teams yesterday in a well established medium breeze, and as at the previous year's Worlds, the Spanish teams were the ones to beat. The Olympic Champion José-Maria Van der Ploeg ESP took the clear lead with a row of top-10 finishes, followed by Javier Arguado ESP as 2nd and Kevin Sproul GBR as 3rd.
