Only 16 of the 30 teams finished the race. Victory went to 'Thurlow Fisher Lawyers' with Michael Coxon/Aaron Links/Trent Barnabas AUS, who passed the leading 'Gotta love it 7' capsizing after a long chase. The defending champions kept nevertheless the second place and remain first overall with a clear lead. 'Smeg' with Nick Press AUS are on the 3rd position. The overall rankings, the excellent but long video of the high-speed race as well as the report of the day.

Two races were sailed up to now at the JJ Giltinan Trophy, both with the defending champion 'Gotta love it 7' with Seve Jarvin AUS as winner. This morning UCT, apparantly with some delay, the third race is underway. The race-viewer announces a victory of 'Smeg' with Nick Press AUS followed by 'Yandoo' of John Winning AUS. A number of abandonments and considerable gaps between the finishing skiffs indicate, that also the 18-footers had to deal with a fresh breeze today. The Etchells sailing their Worlds on the same waters even cancelled racing for the day. Check the event-website during the day to learn more. A spectacular video is granted.
Tuesday, September 23, 2014
Dominating winners of the second race of the inofficial 18-footer Worlds with a lead of almost 2 minutes were again Seve Jarvin/John Newton/Scott Babbage AUS on their 'Gotta love it 7' and they are on a solid path to defend their 2011 Worlds title. Yesterday, a typical Sydney Harbour skiff spectacle awaited the public with a 20-25 kn breeze blowing in race 3. While the top teams managed to control their boats in rushing speeds, numerous abandonments after capsizes or equipment failures happened farther back in the fleet.
Race 4 is underway. The results will be available around noon UCT.
