Very light winds prevailed also during the last double-point race along the beaches of the 'Promenade des Anglais', and an Englishman - Ben Ainslie - on 'Oman Air' was the winner, correcting somewhat a rather flopped race series in Nice. Winner of Act 7 is Pierre Pennec FRA on 'Groupe Edmond de Rothschild' one point ahead of 'Artemis' with Terry Hutchinson USA. 'Alinghi' with Tanguy Cariou FRA is on rank 3. With this victory, 'Groupe Edmond de Rothschild' has taken the overall lead in the Extreme Sailing Series two points ahead of 'Luna Rossa' with Paul Campbell-James GBR with two Acts - Almeria and Singapore - to go. Act 7 of the Extreme Sailing Series 2011 continued on the Bay on Nice yesterday in a moderate North wind in the morning and a light 3 kn seabreeze in the afternoon. Winning two races, 'Groupe Edmond de Rothschild' with Pierre Pennec FRA has taken the lead, and also 'Alinghi' with Tanguy Cariou FRA had a good day with two bullets, advancing on rank 2, 3,5 points behind the leader. 'Artemis' with Terry Hutchinson USA, only 0,5 points behind the Swiss, is another contender for the overall win in the last races today. The main incident of the day was the over-board of Hans-Peter Steinacher AUT on 'Red Bull Extreme', who was hit by a rudder blade and had to be hospitalised with a head injury. Six short races were sailed yesterday close to the beach of Nice FRA in a light breeze with USA Terry Hutchinson's 'Artemis Racing' winning four of them and taking the overall lead, closely followed by 'Groupe Edmond de Rothschild' with Pierre Pennec FRA. 'Alinghi' (Tanguy Cariou FRA) advanced on rank 3 after a good day. The report, the results and the videos of the day.

Ben Ainslie GBR ('Oman Air') and Tanguy Cariou FRA ('Alinghi') appear now also on the list of race winners in Nice, but overall, it is still Roman Hagara AUT (Red Bull') defending the lead closely followed by Pierre Pennec FRA ('Groupe Edmond de Rothschild') and new Paul Campbell-James GBR ('Luna Rossa'). The two-times Olympic Champion Roman Hagara AUT came out on top in three of the four heats and is clearly in front overall. Second with the same number of points are 'Groupe Edmond de Rothschild' with Pierre Pennec FRA and the surprising 'Extreme Sail Nice' with the Vendée Globe-skipper Jean-Pierre Dick FRA sailing for the first time on a multihull.
